Story:
Shades state park is a great park that isn't exactly expected from one located in Indiana. Namely hills, rocks, cliffs, and ravines! Trail 5 does a quick loop. The route we took was to walk between ravines to get down to the river. The trail was a nice hike, it included wooden stairs and hand rails. We spent quite a while down on the rocky shores of Sugar Creek, looking for arrow heads, the beauty and the uninterrupted peacefulness was awesome!
The trip back was thru the bottom of one of the ravines, It was slippery in spots but the trip was beautiful. The literature mentioned that this area could become impassible due to high water. We didn't get muddy because most of the ravine is rock.

Tips:
A state park, a $5.00 entry fee. Easy to park and easy to pick up not only this trail, but for most trails in the park.
