Story:

The Moab Wind Caves is just a playground for kids of all ages. It's easy to spend a couple hours exploring the maze of tunnels and passages.
The Moab Wind Caves are an entertaining way to spend a half-a-day or more in the Moab backcountry. The caves are accessible year round in good weather. Reaching the Moab Wind Caves requires four wheel drive. Actual driving time is about one and a half hours

The route follows a popular and easier four wheel drive trail in the Moab Area. The route is suitable for most stock high clearance pick-up trucks with four wheel drive. The roads are not hardcore four wheeling but you will encounter several minor obstacles.

The USGS 7.5' Map titled "Shafer Basin" "Trough Springs Canyon" and Moab shows the area described. We found that navigation on this route to be moderate.

Camping is available at numerous locations along the route, but only in designated camp sites while inside the Colorado River Waterway boundary. Fees are required and vault toilets are provided. Beyond the Colorado River Waterway boundary rules are much more lax and numerous primitive camp sites exist.
