This track follows a very sandy 4 wheel drive track from the Kilcarnup estate down to the beach at Joey's Nose Kilcarnup.
The day we drove this track we were placing a Geocache at the Joey's Nose location. It is close to the Cape to Cape track.
This beach is a popular surfing an fishing spot. If you plan to do this track you will need a serious 4 wheel drive with low range as the track is soft sand. Some recovery gear would also be well advisable.
When you get to the track that leads down to the beach you need to get out of your vehicle before driving down onto the beach and survey the condition of the track as it can have some deep holes. I speak from experience as when we left the beach to drive back up we got our Toyota Prado hung up with 3 wheels off the ground.
I was lucky to find a wooden plank nearby to use as a shovel, digging the sand out from the underbody and piling it up under one of the wheels, which was at least 30cm off the ground. I then slid the plank under the wheel, wedged a rock I found nearby, in between plank and tyre and then carefully reversed out before having another shot.
Quite stressfull but i had a win in the end, lol.
On the return journey my wife spotted a cave near the track and we stopped to have a look.
Swimming / fishing gear, sunsceen hat & picnic
Recovery gear in case of being bogged.
