Purgatory Chasm - Massachusetts, United States

This trip was created using EveryTrail. Like what you see? Get the FREE iPhone App and share your trips.
Story:
This is more of a exploration / playground than a true hike.  Everyone love to explore the various rock 'caves' and boulders.  The entry into the chasm is actually the most difficult section of the trail.  It does entail climbing on and around rock falls.  While this may prove difficult for some people with more limited mobility, it isn't particularly difficult.   To fully enjoy the area, take your time and explore everything,
Once outside the chasm, there are several additional trail in the immediate vicinity that travel along the rim of the chasm as well as meander along the streams.  There are also picnic areas, a playground for small kids as well as a visitor center on site
