Defulan trail is not far from Mt. Dongmao trail. In fact, part of these two trails are overlapped.
We decided to take train and bus to the destination. As we hopped on a train for Fongyuan and took our seats, the conductor came to us and asked where we would like to go to. "Fongyuan." I answered. I thought he wanted to check on the tickets, but I was bewildering why we were the only ones to be checked on. Then he asked: "Will you be able to get off the train by yourselves?" It turned out that he thought we were blinds as we both wore sunglasses and had a hiking stick in the hands.
The trail seemed deserted as we didn't meet any other hikers on the trail. It was quite a rare occasion on this over-crowded island.
This was the first time we ever used sticks for hiking. Our knees didn't hurt that much this time. But I was not so sure it was because of the stick or the less steep trail.
We didn't make it to catch the 1:10PM bus. We waited till 3:00PM for the next one.

Nice trip! I had never heard of a Formosan pangolin until I saw your photo. Thanks! Learn something new everyday!
