Story:

A Great Moderate Hike with Spectacular Views.

This Trails Challenge hike samples much of the variety this park offers, shaded canyons, open Oak studded fields, and meandering fire roads all with great views to Mount Diablo and the San Joaquin Delta.

This hike starts from the Morgan Territory Road Staging Area and heads you down into the canyon on the Coyote trail. Follow this trail about a mile through the canyon until passing through a cattle gate after a short ascent. Here the trail opens out into grassland where we follow the trail to the right up to the Stone Corral Trail. Head North onto the Volvon Loop Trail as it rounds the Northern edge of Bob Walker Ridge. Here you can enjoy great views of Mount Diablo, Round Valley and the San Joaquin Delta. At the next junction turn left on the Valley View Trail with a steep descent with pretty views of Los Vaqueros Reservoir. After a steep ascent to the Manzanita Trail junction continue on the Valley View trail until meeting the Volvon Trail. Go left through the cattle gate staying to the right on this fire road for about a mile to the Condor Trail. Turn right and follow this single track trail back to the Coyote Trail and onto the staging area.

Tips:
Its a long drive on a narrow road but well worth it.
