Story:
Mt.Kumotori is the highest mountain in Tokyo metropolis and located in Okutama area. The mountain stands at the boundary of Tokyo, Saitama and Yamanashi Prefecture. Its height is 2017m(6617ft). Each trail which leads to the top is rather long, so usually hikers stay overnight at the shelter hut or the lodge near the summit of Mt.Kumotori. The trail from Kamozawa bus stop is rather short so hikers can go in one day. But it still need them to start in the early morning.

Last weekend, it snowed. Since the trail in Mt.Kumotori is comparatively flat, I suppose it's good place to enjoy snow hike. I started to walk from Kosode-Nokkoshi at 7am. It's the same trail from Kamozawa bus stop. We can avoid additional walk by parking the car at Kosode-nokkoshi. There's trace in the trail. Snow was still soft and not frozen so it was really easy to walk even without crampons. But I wanted to try new crampons so I walked with its only when climbing up. I arrived at the top at noon. I took a lunch at the shelter hut and climb down. I felt the trail is very long when I climbed down.. it's probably because the trail is flat, hence I couldn't shorten the time so much even when climbing down. Also I couldn't run with heavier snow boots.

Trail Condition, Misc
No danger points in particular. Snow was soft and not frozen. But you should bring crampons just in case. It's recommended to bring trekking poles to walk easily.

Access
By car, I parked the car in the parking area at Kosode-nokkoshi. I had to attach the chains to the tires of my car to climb up in the road leading to Kosode-nokkoshi. There's snow on the road, so my car was stuck on the way.
