Story:
This is the long route around El Corte de Madera. Lots of interesting features on the interior trails, but this hike uses all of the trails that lead out around the outer perimeter of the preserve. This terrain is a bit challenging, as it's very hilly providing lots of elevation change. This preserve is very popular with cyclists, so I hiked on a weekday. It was also a very chilly and overcast day, but I only saw one cyclists all day, and no other hikers, so I had a great time. Mostly second growth, but even still a few old growth redwoods and douglas firs are there to be discovered.

Tips:
I recommend hiking this preserve on a weekday when there is less traffic. On weekends be alert for bikes. It's also much quieter when the weather is grey and cloudy. Be prepared for lots of elevation change. Trailheads on highway 35 are the highest point, so this will be an inverse hike from there.
