Story:
Members and friends of the Berkeley Path Wanderers Association gathered at 9 a.m. at the El Cerrito Plaza BART station to begin the 2nd Annual Long Walk, an all day, BART-to-BART walk.
We first headed to Albany Hill to visit the Cerrito Creek restoration work done by Friends of Five Creeks then climbed up to Albany Hill Park following both city streets and park paths. We proceeded down the other side using one of Albany's few public staircases, Catherine's Walk. We then headed to Richmond's Pt. Isabel to visit Baxter Creek and restoration work in Stege and Hoffman marshes. We retraced a small portion of our route in order to head back south along the Bay Trail to the Albany Bulb for lunch. Some people opted for a short tour of Bulb artwork (included in the track). We then skirted Golden Gate Fields and headed into the Eastshore Park in Berkeley and across the pedestrian bridge into Aquatic Park. We finished the walk by visiting a number of art installations and historic points of interest in the Sisterna Historical District, then ended at the North Berkeley BART station.
