Story:
It is time to go home. For our last few hours of the morning in Prague before we left for the airport, we went for a tour of the Jewish quarter / Josefov.
At sunrise, I went for a walk across the Charles Bridge / Karlův most. It was a cool morning and mist from the river was covering the bridge. I was still able to take some nice pictures of the statues, sans the crowds from yesterday.
Then we went for a walk through the Jewish quarter / Josefov. While there, we saw the Old Jewish Cemetery / Stary zidovsky Hřbitov, Old New Synagogue / Staronová synagoga, and the Spanelská synagóga / Spanish Synagogu. I highly recommend visiting the Jewish Quarter; it is historically moving.
Our son is a fan of Franz Kafka. We could see the Franz Kafka Museum, across the Vltava rive from our hotel. We decided we would buy him a souvenir; we went to the Knihkupectvi Franze kafky / Franz kafka bookstore, which happened to be the home of the Franz Kafka Society - Společnost Franze Kafky. We also stumbled upon Franz's birthplace.
Tips:
Our hotel was on Krizovnicka in Old Town / Staré Mesto. A taxi to the airport cost us 400 CZK from the airport to the hotel and 500CZK back. Not sure why the difference, but both times, be sure to ask how much before you get in.
