Story:
The Koko-Nut Hikers (Mark, Royce and Joe) ascended the Skyline Trail from Palm Springs Museum to San Jacinto Tram Station.  It was a beautiful Coachella Valley October day.  We were able to hike in shorts and short sleeves.  Total ascent was 8,100 in 8 miles and we did it around 6 hours.  We did see a small deer at Flat Rock at elevation 5,900'.  Not many on the trail today but we did run into Helen & Fernando who hike this trail frequently.  We also had a mountain runner go by us.  He can do this hike by running in 3-4 hours.  And they call us Nuts!!
Tips:
You must be in very good condition to attempt this hike.  Must be done in October-early November or in April/May-depending on snowmelt.  Practice hikes at other trails are recommended.  Must bring 3 liters of water and at least two bottles of electrolyte.  Salt is recommended to prevent cramping as the muscles will get a workout.
