Story:
I put in at Bayside campground at the beach. Chilly! It was very shallow so I had to walk out farhter than I wanted to get in water deep enough that my fin wouldn't drag. My feet were cold! But then I started paddling and they dried off and they were happy planted firmly on my pad. It was more windy than I expected so it got a little choppy in the main part of the bay. The coves, however, we calm and quiet.
I did this trip at a more relaxed pace and my goal was to paddle into the larger coves and explore. Birds! Lots of birds in the marshes including egrets, great blue heron, various gulls, and some ducks. I really love paddling back in these coves b/c it is so smooth and tranquil. Unfortunately, many of the birds are very easily frightened off. Out in the open bay I saw more birds: loons, cormorants and chimney swifts. I didn't see much in the water except for a few jellyfish and a blue crab.
By the time I finished this paddle, it has warmed up and the wind had died down and the surface was very calm. The sun felt great and I didn't even mind putting my feet in the water to bring my board in. <3
