Story:
My original plan is to try Assabet River since the rain in last week should make the Pine Street a better spot to go upstream. Unfortunately, Assabet got too much water and flood the west side of river. I have to change the plan to continue the last week’s trip on Concord River downstream from the Faulkner Street Dam. Two more surprises: no parking spots, the current near the dam is impossible to kayak. I’m not going back!. After checking map and drive to a local road, launching kayak from Manson Av. I found a much better boat access location, Billerica Fire Dept on Lowell St.
The round trip is only about 5 miles, with many tall silver maple trees on both sides blocking whatever behind them. The most part of river about 80-100 yards wide, easy to paddle through with slow current noticeable when going back.
