Story:
I was in Regina on business; after my meetings I went for a walk through the City Centre. I started at Victoria Park, walked West along Vicoria Ave and turned left down Albert St. I walked all the way down to the Legislative Building, turned back and walked a stretch of 13th Ave in the Cathedral District, and then looped back.
Along the way, I saw the following buildings and noteworthy spots: Victoria Park, Regina Cenotaph, McCallum Hill Centre skyscrapers, Queen Elizabeth II Court, Immigrant Recognition Sculpture Project, White Fire Station, Saskatchewan Government Telephones Head Office, Royal Saskatchewan Museum, Regina coat of arms, Albert Memorial Bridge, ...
Saskatchenwan Legislative Building on Wascana Lake, Royal Equestrian Statue Queen Elizabeth II Regina Canada, Queen Elizabeth II Gardens, Saskatchewan War Memorial, Holy Rosary Cathedral, Albert Memorial Bridge,The Mercury Cafe, Grill, Westminster United Church, and CW Sherwod Building.
This was a delightful place to visit. The historic City Centre shares many of the same traditional patterns I have found in other colonial capitals (e.g. Victoria and Albert, Cenotaph, Union Station, beautiful gardens w/equestrian statues, and QEII ceremonial visitation plaques).
Tips:
The City Centre is very close to the Regina airport. I only needed taxi service; no rental car was needed. My hotel on Vicoria Street was walking distance to my meetings. A very easy, low stress, city to visit.
