Story:
This is a hike that goes through the Old Mill Camping area, then on the Edna Gray Trail to the Bristlecone Trail. We hiked to a scenic overlook before descending and going back a different route instead on Edna Gray. This adds distance onto the hike and you have to walk the road back to the parking area, but it makes a semi-loop.

The overlook gives you a 360 degree view of the Lee Canyon area with the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Area and the summer homes not too far east of the ski center. You can revel in the ponderosa and bristlecone pines.
The road that makes up part of the Bristlecone Trail was started in 1940 by the WPA (the Works Progress Administration) but abandoned in 1942 when World War II caused the men to be transferred to other construction.
This is a hike that gives you some challenge without doing the entire 6 mile Bristlecone loop.
Happy hiking!
