Story:
This was a variation of sacberg's Folsom Lake Hike, which we've done before, but I didn't track. On this hike, instead of parking at the boat ramps in Granite Bay (and paying $10.00) and then walking to Beals Point and back, we parked at Willma Cavitt Junior High School and walked to the trail from there. Then instead of walking along the levee to Beals Point, we headed the other direction on the trail (shared by mountain bikers) along the water, passed the boat ramps through parts of the Folsom Lake State Recreation area. Be warned, at some points after we left sacberg's trail, we kind of wandered aimlessly, but it was still a good hike.

Tips:
Be prepared to encounter lots of mountain bikers, but they seem to be very friendly and try to give hikers the right of way.
