Story:
I came up with this figure-eight loop while out riding on a sweet summer evening. It combines beautiful views of the lake with a few nasty hill climbs. I usually start and finish along the lake in the Cliffview Park parking lot - near Petticoat Creek Park.

Note that some sections of this are on paved path (Lakeshore Trail, etc.) and others are along paved roads. Patience and a good horn will serve you well when travelling the sections frequented by pedestrians. I like to give walkers lots of warning and they usually respond very well.
Heading north on the trail from Lakeshore to Kingston Rd can be challenging with a gorgeous twisty path full of blind corners. Keep your head up (!) and watch out for walkers spread across the trail.
Tips:
Get a good horn... like the Dollar Store bugle-style horn. Forget the little "tinkle" bells and such - they make you sound like a wimp. Everyone heeds the bugle! I also carry a few small lights just in case it gets dark.

If you are cruising at a training speed you might be able to do this in an hour... or if you just want to enjoy some gorgeous scenery, take your time and spend a couple hours seeing what South Pickering has to offer.
