Story:

When it's sunny in the N. Bay does not mean it will be sunny at the coast, I took a chance and have wanted to hike the Northern part of the Coastal trail on the Pt.ReyesNationalSeaShore. Once you leave Limantour road towards the Hostel (.5 miles) there are cars parked on the right side of the road, one trail head starts here, or you can go to the parking lot another .3 miles and park there and start your trip at the trail head at the rear of the lot, this trail starts as dirt road and turns into a two track before heading down hill for the last mile to the coastal trail, the alternate route is to start at the trail head up the road which is longer, beware if you take this trail to start the uphill to the other trail head is a very steep climb back, the loop is 5 miles. As an alternate you can continue South on the coastal trail to Woodward trail and climb to Mt Whitenburg or continue straight another 2.5 miles to Alamere falls.

Tips:

it can be windy and cold on this trail, bring layers, the coast camp is located just South on the coastal trail offering restrooms, camp sites with tables and BBQ pits. There are a lot of equestrians on this trail and some parts are single track, they have the right of way. There are a few heards of Tule elk and a lot of other wild life on this penninsula, have a great time with your camera and PLEASE don't leave anything that you brought here.
