Story:
Update:  As of November 15, the closure is still on.

The Levee Trails of the Alameda Creek Trail system are closed June 1 - November 1, 2011 for maintenance work!  However, bicyclists can stil get to Coyote Hills Regional Park.  At the gate, erected to prevent anybody from going on down the trail, turn left on Ardenwood Blvd and then right on Paseo Padre Pkwy and right on Patterson Ranch Road.

South (paved) trail will be closed for the full time; North trail will be closed during working hours. The PDF mentioned below gives more details of what they intend.

Ardenwood and Paseo Padre are wide, with bicycle lanes, comfortable for bikes.  Patterson Ranch has a separate mixed-use trail leading into the park.
Tips:
The work really is important, if not always convenient.  Check out this explanation:  http://www.ebparks.org/files/F05C97-Project_Information_Notice_04-22-11_Final.pdf
