Mesa Verde - Cliff Palace - Colorado, United States

This trip was created using EveryTrail. Like what you see? Get the FREE iPhone App and share your trips.
Story:
Cliff Palace is the more famous set of cliff dwelling ruins at Mesa Verde National Park. To prevent people from destroying or tampering with the ruins, the Park Service only allows people to hike the facilities with a ranger guide on a ticketed tour.

Our guide explained the history of Mesa Verde, including the inhabitants of Cliff Palace and the theories that surround their short time there. We also learned about the history of the land and how fire, high elevation and drought have threatened the ecology of the mesa.
