Story:
This weekend we had planned a backpacking trip at Big Basin with Loren, David, and Josh but soon found out that the backpacking camps would not be open for another week (pretty late if you ask me). So there we were with all of our backpacking gear and no food (David forgot to pick it up...), so we decided to go on a day hike.
Part of the Skyline to the Sea trail was closed so we weren't able to do the complete loop (instead we connected to the Skyline to the Sea Trail via a connector trail about 0.5 miles in). It was a bit cold but I was pretty comfortable wearing a light jacket the entire time.
The trail was slightly damp which made it easier on the feet, and it wasn't too muddy to cause any problems. We decided to walk clockwise so that we could see all of the waterfalls as we approached them.
We lost count at some point, but we probably saw around 100 banana slugs in the 4 hours we were hiking.
After the hike I slept in the car the entire way until we got lots and lots of pizza. Great hike, but I'll have to go back soon for a proper weekend backpacking trip.

Tips:
I recommend hiking clockwise so that you can see all of the waterfalls as you approach them.
