Story:
On April 23 at 8:00am we will ride from La Costa to Elfin Forest to Lake Hodges down the San Dieguito River Park to Lusardi Canyon up to Black Mountain to Penasquitos Canyon to finish at North of the Border. Orange tape will lead the way and many now know the route so there is no shortage of ride leaders. We have dedicated sweeps so "No Man or Woman Left Behind"..ever! Aid stations are manned at Elfin, Lake Hodges, Black Mtn and a roving van will pick up anyone who under estimated how much gas was in the tank. It is a ride so no rush. Push your bike when you can't turn the pedal. The aim is to finish.
Leave a car at NOB (4204 Sorrento Vally Blvd, San Diego CA, 92121) in the morning and drive up to La Costa. Talk to your friends and figure out a shuttle. At ride's end we will have a BBQ and beer.
We are suggesting a donation of $15 for the ride and $15 for the shirt so $30 donation through Pay Pal covers you for ride, shirt, food and beer. If you can't use Pay Pal and donate the day of the ride, the donation amount is $40. For those who donate the morning of the ride money will be taken at La Costa and you will have to wait for a shirt. All donations go 100% to SDMBA.
There are two raffles we will be doing at the event. The first item is an Ellsworth frame (size and type of your choice). The other item is an Epic Camera. Tickets will be available at the event only for $5 per ticket. They will not be available for purchase through Paypal, due to their regulations on raffles.
The trail is in great shape and the only asphalt you touch is the crossing at Del Dios Hwy & down to the lake and then you are right back on dirt. This year you will have the option at Elfin of going "The Way Up" or going up the Cielo Trail. Cielo is not as long and unrelenting but you have to take the road up to the foot of the dam to get on Cielo. For the purist that is just too much asphalt but for others "The Way Up" is just too sinister. So pick your posion we will all end up in the same place.
