Story:
Enjoy a great half-day ride with views of beautiful mountains, steep jagged canyon cliffs, and serene running streams, all close to north Phoenix. Although only a 20 mile loop, it includes many types of terrain: wide open roads, smooth soft sand, boulder hopping, and about a dozen stream crossings. Also find several mines and ruins of stone cabins. There is a steep ledge in the trail at one point but one of us chose to go around and confirm there is an alternate route by riding down along the creek a hundred yards or two and then reconnecting with the trail. The ledge looks worse than it is but may give beginners some pause.

You can also combine this ride with another great loop by riding south down Maggie Mine Road. See my trail titled Black Canyon City for that route.
