The Fallbrook Land Conservancy has done an outstanding job of providing an outstanding exercise trail in the San Diego North County. This loop covers about 4.1 miles and has some serious climbing. The climb exceeds that of Cowles and Iron Mountain.

This loop consists of old abandoned roads and trails. The biggest bummer of the hike is the constant roar of traffic on Interstate 15. But mile for mile this trail will get the heart rate up there.

No water is available on this climb so pack in what you will need.
After you turn off the Old 395 onto Stewart Canyon Rd you will pass under Interstate 15. When you come to the "T" in the road (Pankey Rd) just hang a right and park...."You have Arrived."

This is a great training hike, with a 1,500 foot elevation gain/ loss over a 4.2 mile loop. If you make it an it an out & back you get a 2,000 ' gain/ loss over 5 miles. From the summit, on a clear day, you can easily see San Clemente Island to the west, and Mt. Baldy, San Gorginio, and San Jacinto to the north. Sunrise and sunsets are especially beautiful.

I did this loop last month with my grandson(21) finding 10-12 geocaches extended our time to 4.5 hours! A good leg burner.
