Story:
Full day of geocaching just east of Barstow. The Route 66 series is 800+ caches along Route 66 (of course) midway between Barstow and Needles. The entire series can be done by car although some of the caches are as much as 40 feet off the road. Three of us did the run in 13.5 hours starting at sunrise and ending well after sunset. We ran into several other geocachers from out of state. All containers are 35mm film canisters with just a log inside. The majority of hides were under a SPOR and often visible from the car.

Tips:
During the day, bring plenty of water and sunscreen - it gets hot and dry out here. For night, bring along jackets and headlamps.
