Chuck Wagon to Mescal to Deadman's to Aerie to Cockscomb to Dawa to OK to AZ Cypress to Anaconda Bypass to Anaconda to Girdner
by johnf0246 on Sep 17, 2010
Sedona, Arizona, United States
Mountain biking | 12.5 miles
So this is by far the best advanced intermediate ride in Sedona. The Lama, Little Horse, Broken Arrow loop used to be one of the best loops, but I think this loop I have posted is better. I am a little biased since I helped build the new Forest Service trail called Aerie, which is one of the trails in the loop. I have recently posted a similar loop excluding the Mescal advanced section and...

Mountain biking | 11.7 miles
We will ride Preston and NW Timber trails. Its a 3.5 mile dirt road climb to the top, followed by a 4 mile downhill filled with switchbacks, rocks, roots and a menagerie of technical obstacles. There is a bail-out option between Preston and NW Timber if necessary. NW Timber is a classic cascade mountain side trail that rolls up and down all the way to the parking lot. This is a long...

Jacob's Gold Loop
by MTBikeAZ on Feb 06, 2010
Youngberg, Arizona, United States
Mountain biking | 16.3 miles
I finally found a few hours to get out and explore. My favorite thing about riding. I have the west side of packsaddle road in the Goldfields mapped out. Now it was time to ride east of Packsaddle and make the connection to Jacob’s Crosscut trail at the base of the Supes. Chollaball and I rode from Lost Goldmine to the Shed a couple of weeks ago to find the connection. I wanted to scout the...

Mountain biking | 22 miles
Rolling Thunder is the annual mountain bike epic that my buddies and I try to schedule each year, and this year it took us to The Palisades Trail off of Highway 410 between Greenwater and Mount Rainier.  One of our participants was not riding and he graciously offered to shuttle us from our starting point at the Skookum Flats Trailhead near Bear Creek up to the Noble Knob Trailhead at Corral Pass....

Mountain biking | 7.3 miles
This was our first visit to the Danada Forest Preserve for this Spring Season. The bike trail starts at the Danada Forest Preserve center on Naperville Road, in Wheaton, IL. The trail meanders through the praires and woods all the way to Herrick Lake. Our GPS tracks show us taking a 7 mile loop. Conditions were dry, the trails were in good shape, but still not groomed since...

Well once every 4 years we get a bonus day. This year it came on a Friday. Why not use it particularly since the weather was so incredibly beautiful. So we headed to the Guacamole trail just outside Zion National park and near Virgin Utah. This is a s uper fun slickrock trail and we had a great day.

Rim Trail at Paulina Lakes on MTB
by was on Aug 13, 2009
La Pine, Oregon, United States
Mountain biking | 20 miles
Day 4 of  "Psycho Cycle-Fest I"Paulina Lakes is an absolutely great mountain bike ride of about 20 miles.  It circles the rim of of the huge Newberry volcanic crater (caldera).  Great views, excellent trail conditions, and high altitude. Newberry is an "active" Volcano. The caldera is roughly four to five miles in diameter. [Although several thousand years old, it's about 10X larger in area than Mt St Helens!]I started the ride at Paulina...

Biking the Everglades

Everglades National Park, Florida, United States
Mountain biking | 18.2 miles
Shark Valley is a 15 mile bike loop, just 40 miles west of Miami within Everglades National Park.   Monica and I aired up our tires and hit the trail.  Within the first 100 feet of the trail we saw our first alligator, literally, next to the paved path.  More than once we passed gators over 10 feet in length.   At the midway point of the trail stands a tower.  At the top...

POcifica Mt Biking
by justbob on Apr 18, 2009
Pacifica, California, United States
Mountain biking | 16.1 miles
We call this POcifica for the abundance of poison oak.  And this time of year it is sprouting all over the place. Today was my first mt bike ride with the posse (Robert, Bobby, Paul, Jason, Mark & Liem) since my bad biking accident in January. As usual, we parked at the elementary school. The plan was to ride to the top of Montara Mt. Robert calls the fire road the Matterhorn because it...

McCullough Hills Trail
by BackcountryMark on Dec 24, 2012
Henderson, Nevada, United States
Mountain biking | 8.7 miles
This is a fun bike ride on a very well groomed multi-use path that runs from Henderson to Anthem behind Black Mountain in the southern part of the Las Vegas valley. The mileage shown is for one way - double for out and back (minus the short offshoot trails). There is nothing technical and is perfect for a hybrid or cross country bike. There are a couple short out & back easy singletrack...

This 10.6 mile Highline ADVANCED ride is starts from The Village of Oak Creek (VOC). Note that the Everytrail map shows the ride starting north of my actual ride description. I pieced the gpx track together with several different rides so the stats don't show up correctly. From  VOC ride Hwy 179 to Made in the Shade (which starts across from the Bell Rock Forest Service Paking...

Very nice ride, some semi fast technical descents to start and gradual climbs to finish.  Started on East Ridge Trail, followed single track trails to East Shore Trail. (note, the single trail eventually ends at a trail head that's not marked.  Proceed through the gate and make your way down to the lake).  Eventually, turned right on Swallow Bay Trail and followed the parameter of Lake Del Valle until reaching the trail head of Heron...

Mountain biking | 7.0 miles
The Superstition Mountains have eluded mountain bikers for years and will most likely keep on eluding for years to come. There is, however, a gem of a trail that skirts the boundary, giving mountain bikers a taste of that forbidden wilderness. After 8 years in the valley I finally found Lost Goldmine.I arrived at the trailhead on Cloudview early, clipped in and headed toward the rising sun. With six...

Mountain biking in the Marckworth State Forest
by Moun10Bike on Jul 18, 2009
Stillwater, Washington, United States
Mountain biking | 19.8 miles
I got out on a beautiful (if hot) day today and enjoyed a nice 20-mile journey through the Marckworth State Forest near Duvall.  Geocaching was the primary reason for deiciding on this ride today and I was able to find 5 relatively difficult caches along the way.  A highlight of the ride was a trip up to Drunken Charlie Lake.
