Hiking | 4.5 miles
some of this text from Hiking in Palm Springs: Painted Canyon, in the heart of the hills, exhibits many mineral deposits in hues of rose, pink, red, purple and green. The canyon runs in a general north-south direction, and is distinguished by sandy washes sprinkled with Ironwood, Smoke Trees, and Palo Verde. Keen eyed wildflower enthusiasts will also find the rare Mecca aster, a lilac tinted bloom resembling a daisy. Along the rim of the canyon and...

Hiking | 18.3 miles
This hike is rated 5th hardest day hike in US by Outside Mag for good reason...the first 10 miles you climb 8500ft to get to the tram, this is called Skyline Trail which is definitely the most difficult part of the C2C.  You start out at the Desert Museum, TH just behind, park your car on street or in parking lot.  The beginning of the hike is in "cactus" and it ends...

Fobes to Cedar Springs Trail
by Cobber99 on Nov 09, 2008
Thomas Mountain, California, United States
Hiking | 7.8 miles
A lovely hike up the Fobes Trail, meeting the Pacific Crest Trail and then down the Cedar Spring Trail. This was the day before the Desert Divide’s first snowfall of the year. It was upper 50’s to low 60’s, lightly breezy and full of late fall colors. This hike is a perfect day hike for shorter daylight in the late fall or early spring. The difficulty of the...

Hiking | 5.9 miles
One of the best adventures while visiting Palm Springs is to take the tram ride to the top of the ridge above at 8,616 feet.  The goal?  A wonderful day hiking in some of the most beautiful wilderness in Southern California.  The tram ride up and down is a novelty in itself, but once at the top - stepping out of the upper tram building into the glorious fresh air, scented pines...

Hiking | 0.9 miles
from Hiking in Palm Springs:The Berns Trail acts as a connector between the Garstin, Araby, Shannon and Eagle Canyon. The Berns trail starts at the top of the Garstin Trail and winds northeasterly over the top of Smoketree Mountain until it intersects the Araby Trail. Of course, if you start hiking at the beginning of the Araby Trail, then you can use the Berns Trail to connect with the Garstin. I liked the solitude of the Berns trail...

Hiking | 4.0 miles
This trail departs from the Sable Palm neighborhood.   About two miles down some clown has placed a new gate in his dispute over access rights.  There is still plenty of pretty trail to hike however. There are infomational markers along the way placed by the Audobon Society.  The area looks almost prehistoric with lots of birds, deer, palms and even a few small ponds.Great place for trail running.
