Agua Dulce Loop, Laguna Mountains
by San_Diego_Hiker on Nov 01, 2009
Mount Laguna, California, United States
Hiking | 7.6 miles
Zevensphin found this loop in "Afoot and Afield in San Diego." Somewhere we did something wrong, or maybe not, but the book stated it was 5.3 miles. Regardless, it was a nice hike, lots of variety, I'd imagine a little later in the fall, or in the spring, would be prime photo time. We met some Orienteers, out on an event. Looked like fun. Thanks, Zev, for the GPX.Read complete details at...

Pacific Crest Trail (Mt Laguna to Sunrise Highway Trailhead)
by SLEDAWG on Jan 10, 2010
Mount Laguna, California, United States
Hiking | 16.2 miles
What a great hike!  Easy grade along the rim of the Anza Borrego Desert.  Start out near the Mt Laguna Store and head north parallel to Sunrise Highway.  Beautiful vistas, flora, mountains and rock formations.  Follows the old highway after Pioneer Mail picnic grounds and passes some interesting plaques that have been placed honoring people.  Wasn't sure what that was all about.  If there is a marquee hike in the Mt Laguna...

Laguna Beach - A Fleeting Moment
by Leighton on Aug 30, 2009
Laguna Beach, California, United States
Sightseeing | 1.7 miles
The highs were forecasted to be 104 to 106 and our local mountains were sadly being devastated by wildfires. To beat the heat, the family headed down to Laguna Beach for the afternoon. We had lunch at the White House Restaurant, did a little window shopping, checked out the local scenery, and made a visit to the taffy store. When enquiring for a nice place for lunch, the manager of Crazy Shirts recommended the John E. Burger...

Rizal Circuit- The Bigger Circle
by longh on Sep 25, 2010
Baras, CALABARZON, Philippines
Mountain biking | 57 miles
I called this the "bigger" Rizal Circuit as this is much longer than the usual Rizal-Teresa-Antipolo Circuit. I also found this more challenging; even compared to a Sierra Madre ride as the climb from Tanay to Sierra Madre is really a cardiac assault. By the time we reached the Sierra Madre Hotel, our legs were already "vegetables." The route is great as 100% of it is already cemeted compared to about 5 years...

4 Day Laguna to Legaspi Bike Trip - Day 2 (Calauag to Sipocot)
by longh on Oct 29, 2010
Calauag City, CALABARZON, Philippines
Mountain biking | 69 miles
We woke up early at 7:30 am and after taking our breakfast, we started our ride. The weather was cool, cloudy and pleasant, a wonderful weather for riding. We took Quirino Hi-way on our way to Camarines Sur. Though it was not mountainous, the numerous ups and downs on the hilly route were actually more challenging than the mountains of the first day. If we add up those hills, it may come...

El Chalten - Loma del Pliegue Tumbado
by doowopinpatagonia on Jan 18, 2011
El Chalten, Santa Cruz, Argentina
Hiking | 14.0 miles
The Loma del Pliengue Tumbado is a chain of three round rocky summits at 1340m, 1420m and 1550m. In Spanish "Loma" could translate as "Hill". Pliegue Tumbado being the name of this chain of hills. On its Northern flank runs Rio Fitz Roy and its Southern one there is Rio Tunel. Carrying on further West, you would reach the impressive Cerro Solo, but that is alpine climbing, and no longer hiking. Loma...

Test Drive: 2011 Jeep Compass 70th Anniversary Limited EditionJPFreek Adventure Magazine Heading up into the Cleveland National Forest Mountains on a great stretch of pavement called Oretga Hwy.  The winding roads and tight turns were fun and the Jeep hugged them well, giving us a thrill but feeling in control.  We started this track just off Ortega after driving up from I-5 near Laguna Hills.  The little road took us up a two...

Indian Truck Trail
by lksfirecapt on Feb 02, 2012
Corona, California, United States
Hiking | 13.9 miles
The Indian Truck Trail is actually a fire road that ascends from the valley floor up to the Main Divide Rd at the top of the Santa Ana Mountains. This is a multi-use trail so expect to see mountain bikers, motorcycles, and off road vehicles. Now while that may not sound enticing there is little traffic on the road during weekdays. The trail originates off Santiago Canyon Rd, in a yet to be...

This was a one way hike with a shuttle.  There are narrow, one lane mountain roads between the two ends that are relatively short or one can take the highway, which goes out of the way.  More pictures from the hike can be found at: This hike was guided by the San Diego Natural History Museum Canyoneers. The Canyoneers talk about the plants, animals and geology along the hike. A hike...
