walking in Seefeld 2

Walk to the Wildmoosalm and back

Wien Innere Stadt Walk - Stephansdom, Der Graben, Staatsoper, KarlsKirche, Belvedere, MAK, Rathaus, Parliament

We just arrived in Vienna for a long weekend vacation. We took the airport bus to the Schwedenplatz station, checked in to our nearby hotel and went for a walk through the Inner City / Innere Stadt. We started walking South West along Rotenturmstraße toward the famous, and easily visible South Tower of the Stephansdom/St. Stephen's Cathedral. We toured the cathedral, then walked over to the nearby Peterskirche / St. Peter's Church. We toured it, too, then walked over to Der Graben, the impressive pedestrian shopping street. We made our way South through Neuer markt on Tegetthoffstraße and Operngasse to the Vienna Opera / Wiener Staatsoper. From there, we walked South past Karlzplatz, visited KarlsKirche / St. Charles's Church, continued walking through Schwarzenbergplatz to the Belvedere Palace. We had lunch at a nice Braeu Brewery. We walked ourselves back to the Ringstraße, visited the Klimt exhibit at the Sucession Art Museum and took the tram upto the Museum für angewandte Kunst/Gegenwartskunst, Museum for Applied Arts (MAK). We did a lengthy walk through the excellent exhibits, had some water at the cafe and took another tram to the Rathaus/Townhall. We got there at dusk, just when they turned on the flood lights -- very nice.We walked some more along the Ringstraße and saw the Parliament, Burgtheater / Austrian National Theater, Museum of Art History / Kunsthistorisches Museum, then took the tram back (the long way) to our hotel. We did a good job seeing what we could on our first, jet-lagged, afternoon in Central Europe. We had so much fun together exploring, too bad we didn't have more time!

biken hohenems-dornbirn

Biking Lake Neusiedl (Breitenbrunn - Rust - Podersdorf - Petronell - BA)

A bike-holiday with my wife & friends (almost the same ones as in previous holiday bike-tirp Dunau Radweg).
