"This is a fantastic hike! Mostly flat to start, then a few sets of switchbacks. The last 1/4 mile is a little scary if you're not into heights, you hike along a slim ridge before you get to the end, but it's worth it for the view.
If you can catch it, there's a point in the fall where the trees that line the valley's walls will be yellow on the edges, but green in the center, because the outside ones insulate the inside ones from the cold. Glorious. "

"Tomales Point Trail (the only trail I've hiked here) is about a 10 mile hike, very little elevation change, with great ocean views. It can be foggy, and even without the fog can get windy and cold with the sea spray.
It's relatively easy to lose the trail at points, because the vegetation gets sparse. So don't get overcommitted to thinking you're on the right track, turn around!"

"Perfectly gorgeous year-round, and a quick 3 mile loop (paved, so strollers are not uncommon sightings). You tend to see lots of squirrels and the occasional snake. The signs say to be careful of mountain lions as well, but in the many, many times I've been here, I've never encountered one."

"Quick to get to from San Francisco, and great views. My favorite thing to do here is attend a work day (the second Sunday of each month) at the Tourist Club. You can spend some time working with your hands, doing maintenance on the club or its grounds. And after your workday get treated to some great homebrew!"
