I'm a project manager with the Downtown Streets Team -- the non-profit organization that has been selected by the EPA and the City of San Jose to clean up a stretch of Coyote Creek and to help (compassionately) move some of the homeless folks who are living down there into permanent housing.

We've encountered several trash rafts in our project area (William Street to Tully Road), and your group was suggested to us by the City as a potential clean-up partner for some of the harder to reach places.

A few factoids about the project so far:

- in just three months on the job, our team (which is made up of homeless and formerly homeless individuals) has collected nearly 400 cubic yards of trash! That was the projected goal for the entire two-year pilot program.

Several of the people who are currently living in the creek have joined in the clean up -- either by joining our team or taking it upon themselves to keep their "home" cleaner!
