@hippster : most trails on this route are bike legal (and bike brutal). Not sure whether China Hole trail and the Narrows are but you can definitely go from Blue Ridge Road back to the HQ through Poverty Flat road.
Wow, 17 and a half miles in Coe in June, I'm impressed! My son and I backpacked there many years ago in June and we hit the hot weather - 110°+. We camped at Los Cruzeros coming and going and at Coit Lake. The water was still flowing through the narrows and there was a nice pool where we camped at Cruzeros. We saw lots of wildlife, including pigs, turkeys and rattlers... My kid who was about 12 at the time came up with a good way to beat the heat. At one of the springs he wet an extra t-shirt and then draped it over his head under his ball cap. Genius!

Joost: ****** Only 3.4 miles of dirt out of 38 in total. ****** The dirt is all up hill, with some VERY steep sections. ****** Always the road bike though. Makes it more challenging. :-)

Hey, I just checked out your videos. Very cool. This has made me realize that we NEED to add videos to EveryTrail ASAP (has been on our to do list for a long time now...). My thinking is to display the video next to the map similar to the photos. Prob makes most sense to use Youtube on the backend. Thoughts?
gelunmak: I just uploaded the GPS file to MotionBased where you can see the average gradient and other stuff:
http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/8377382
The steepest parts are probably close to 15%, but most of it is 5 to 8%.
Joost: ****** Although YouTube is by far the most popular, I prefer Vimeo.com because the do not have the 10 minute per clip time limit that YouTube does and the video quality is a little better. ****** Would be cool to see the full stats on the GPS data such as avg gradient, etc. like MotionBased has.
