About Me
My name is Athonia but most call me "Nia". Days off are consumed by hiking, kayaking, and various dog related adventures. I'm an engineer at Fusionstorm in Natomas.

Education/Certifications: I have a degree in Mgmt. of Informations Systems as well as A+, Network+, CISM and CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate).

Past Career: I am the co-founder of L A Bridge Internet & DSL (www.LABridge.com) and we were among the first ISPs to offer service in Los Angeles. We had our own DSL multiplexer in 1997 and we estimate that we were the very first to offer DSL in the area.

Before working in the ISP business I worked in audio post production (Skywalker Sound, Columbia Pictures and Fox). My daily duties there involved music and audio editing of all sorts. I did a lot of dialog editing for television and foley editing for film. I actually won an Emmy for music editing on Northern Exposere. Some productions I worked on include: The Simpsons, Joy Luck Club, Wyatt Earp, Corrina Corrina, Little Odessa, True Lies. My primary job was editor in those days but, ironically I sorta got my start working with the IT groups at those facilities. It was thanks to Skywalker that I really got my start with Cisco and Unix based environments. I do miss that industry sometimes though.

Volunteerism: Search and Rescue
El Dorado County Sheriff’s office
2008-present. Foot team and communications team member. Spanning an area that contains everything from whitewater rapids, to vast wilderness and rocky mountain peaks, El Dorado county is one of the busiest search and rescue areas in the country. SaR members are on call and may elect to help the Sheriff’s office as time permits. There’s an average of one call-out per week and those are usually on the weekend.
