This entire trip is within Deception Pass State Park. The northern portion of this 4500 park is on Fidalgo Island, while the southern portion is across the bridge on Whidbey Island. A pleasant walk on trails and rural public county roads. Mostly within the northern half of Deception Pass State Park. Could complete this circuit from any number of parking areas along the route, including Pass Lake, Bowman Bay, Rosario Beach and Sharpe Park.

Walk to Whidbey and back, mostly on trails within Deception Pass State Park; rural roads as necessary to connect with home. Didn't take many photos this walk as I was more focused on getting as many miles in before the forecasted rains and wind hit.
A country roads walk from South Fidalgo to Anacortes.
Anacortes walk from Mount Erie school.
Winter-solstice-day walk around Anacortes with a few photos taken along the way.
Washington Park Loop Road is closed to motor vehicles and is pedestrian only access until 10AM and again later in the day. The paved two mile loop provides excellent scenic vistas and also meanders through old growth forest.
Off-season in the 4500 acre park is still very enjoyable. This three mile hike around goose rock provides a variety of great scenery and topography.

Nice off-season late Fall walk in the 4500 Deception Pass State Park. Saw no other people during the two hours on-trail. Sighted several great blue herons.

December 13, 2009 walk around west side of unnamed Pass Lake hill, up to the old homestead orchard at Ginnett Road turnaround. Then, returned along the east bottom flank of the hill. A pleasant walk with light snow falling. Trail is well maintained and recent large windfalls across trail have been chainsawed to keep trail clear. Lake has a thin layer of ice.
Sharpe Park affords well maintained trails through varied environment, including woodlands, marshlands and balds. This walk terminates at Sares Head with breathtaking scenic panoramic views at the 400' elevation of the bluff.
A nice walk during the off-season. Great scenery and limited elevation change. Much of this path is wheelchair accessible due to paved paths. The coastal dune area is somewhat unique in the Pacific Northwest and a special treat.
Before the Deception Pass bridge was completed in 1935, the only auto-traffic between Whidbey and Fidalgo Islands was via a small ferryboat that ran from Hoypus Point (on the Whidbey Side) to Yokeko Point (on the Fidalgo Side). Some of the old Hoypus Point ferry dock concrete bulkheads remain and can be seen in a few of these photos. Hoypus point is entirely within the southern boundaries of the 4500 acre Deception...
Hoypus Point offers numerous marked trails that can be selected as desired for various relatively short walks, or combined for a longer loop around the point. All marked trails are well maintained. There are multiple marked trailheads on Cornet Bay Road and one at the end of Ducken Road. The paths identified on the map below was walked during January after several days of wet weather and there was a bit of...
