Wye Island Circumvention

Wye Heights, Maryland, United States
Kayaking / Canoeing | 16.4 miles
Launched at the Pickering Creek Audubon Center.  Left there into a 20 mph head wind and proceeded to circle the island in a clockwise direction.  This route would be virtually impossible without a gps.I was figuring on approximately 14 miles, but I don't think I hugged the island as close as I could have and the trip ended up being closer to 16.5 miles.  That is my longest paddle yet. Many birds, especially...

East Arlington (historical), Virginia, United States
Kayaking / Canoeing | 11.6 miles

by WORNH on Nov 18, 2009
Point O'Rocks, Florida, United States
Kayaking / Canoeing | 9.1 miles

Savannah Beach, Georgia, United States
Kayaking / Canoeing | 3.7 miles
Temperature were in the mid 60's when we started and it warmed to the mid 70's when we finished. The tides were a few hours past an exceptionally high tide and the current was ripping. We made our way from the launch off Alley street across to the first creek on the left. The current was so strong we had a hard time entering the creek. We went...
