Field studies class through SFSU Sierra Nevada Field Campus. The classes are open to the public. We went to various watersheds in the Tahoe National Forest and learned about stream classification, stream survey methods, meadow restoration, mapping, etc.

A mellow stroll in Coyote Hills Regional Park along the marshes. Lots of birds and flat trails (friend is recovering from knee surgery). There are also lots of family friendly bike trails here.

Sunday morning bike ride along cañada road near crystal springs reservoir just south of the intersection of hwys 92 & 280 near San Mateo, Calif. The local athorities closed a segment of cañada road to motorized vehicles so cyclists, kids on bikes, roller bladers and even a few pedestians could safely enjoy the road.

First trip 2010 for Group 5 Sierra Club Snowcamping Section. We went to Castle Pass from Donner Summit SnoPark / Boreal Ski Area. We camped just on the west side of Castle Pass. It snowed lightly for the whole trip. A little night time hike with a friend in Sweeney Ridge GGNRA along Sneath Lane Trail from the Sneath Lane Trailhead. It had been a rainy day and a misty night, but the Sneath Lane Trail is paved so we didn't have to worry about tripping over roots or deep mud. went for a walk today in the Grand Lake neighborhood of Oakland to view the Marcom Rose Garden and do some geocaching. Found a second lovely little geocache on a hidden stairway "street". On the way I picked up a nice sandwich at Jenny's Cafe and took a picture of my favorite local coffee shop/hot dog stand: Day of the Dead.
