It only took us 1 1/2 hours to get here from Palm Desert. Interesting drive passing by Salton Sea. A massive lake.
The hike is a lot of fun, literally going through slots. Do NOT take a big back pack. It was not 12km as it says in facts. That was because I started recording before we got to the trailhead. Used a guide from Every Trail. Without it, we would never...
First hike on our first day here in 2011. A wonderfully warm day, close to 28c. Left slush and rain behind us yesterday on V. I.
Neat drive from Idyllwild up the South Circle Drive and Fern Valley road to Humber Park. Gives you a good impression of this little town of 3.500 people. Mainly retirees as we were told by friendly local hikers. They also recommended a super spot to eat lunch: Cafe Aroma. The short hike on the Ernie Maxwell trail (we only went half-way) and the lunch gave us a memorable impression of this mountain...
This was a group hike organized by the Visitor Centre on Hwy 74. The volunteer leaders did a very hood job of explaining flora and fauna and was appreciated by the large group of hikers, about 25 of us.
A nice morning hike up to the cross on the hill behind Sandpiper. We see it lit up every night from the garden and pool. It is a good aerobic work-out. 695 ft climb. I alway forget to pause the iPhone so it only takes a little more than an hour return trip. We also stopped often along the way to admire the views in all directions.
Did the hike with Ken...
David and I persuaded Ken and Eldy to hike up Ryan Mountain with us on a beautiful and warm day in November. This was their first visit to Joshua Tree National Park. Our third. The trip took us 3 hours - not 17 as the stats say. Don't quite know why?
Great Halloween hike with Penny and George close to Palm Desert.
After a fabulous hike up Ryan Mountain also in Joshua Tree (a definite 'must' for any visitor here) Penny, George, Mary-Joe, John, David and I went for a quick walk down to the dam. First time I used the iPhone to track away from Canada and with roaming turned off. A bit of an experiment. Let's see if it works.
Bev, Craig, David and I set put late this morning for a very relaxed walk on this beautiful trail just south of Ucluelet on the west coast of Vancouver Island. It was raining slightly but warm, 9c. Today is Feb. 1st
This easy walk is a must for anyone visiting here.
