Tinker's Creek is the best whitewater in Ohio, bar none. It's got wild technical whitewater, followed by some great surfing. And it's got Tinker's Falls and The Tunnel!, the latter of which is like nothing I've seen on any other river or creek anywhere.It's full of strainers and other pinning spots, so bring your "A" Game especially at higher water.Wanna read a story about Tinker's, with more photos? Just a short workout on a section I hadn't been on in a couple of decades. Water was low, but the shallow parts were still (barely) navigable.Saw a family of Pied-billed Grebes, but didn't get a photo worth uploading. (It's tough to take a photo from a tippy boat.)

Moose Fest began in the 1990's, a celebration of the release of water created by the Fall drawdown of the Fulton Chain Lakes. It has morphed from a Festival  in Old Forge to a Party to a Celebration in Old Forge and Lyons Falls. Bob and I rented a couple of sea kayaks and took advantage of a paddle trail set up at Galveston Island State Park. Protected from heavy surf by the island, this paddle trail allows easy flatwater paddling and birding.

Hiked the Loop Trail; at the parking lot, we had time to hike up the Gully, crossing the stream countless times until we couldn't go any further without getting very wet. Getting that wet is good for the summer, not so much for April.

Brazos Bend State Park has several miles of trails and lots of wildlife--paprticularly waterfowl and alligators. I spent 2.5 hours there, and could easily have spent five.I didn't have my best camera with me; I jacked up the rez to get the best shots I could. This trip includes five tracks from 2005 and '06: two circumnavigations of Great Island, two paddles up the Piscataqua River, and one little bounce around Portsmouth Harbor, off Goat Island, with my sister.The photos were taken with a film camera, so their locations are approximate.
