This was a strenuous but enjoyable one way hike starting in the suburbs of San Rafael near the Civic Center and passing through open space and on into China Camp State Park. We shuttled a car the seven miles or so to the end of the hike on the road at the campground. Lovely views of almost the entire Bay Area. A little noisy at the beginning due to the 101 Freeway...
680 Trail from Terral Linda to Loma Alta Peak andd down to Big Rock

This was a one way hike from the Terra Linda along the (new) 680 trail up to the peak of Loma Alta and then down to the Big Rock on Lucas Valley Road. The day was foggy and there is a photo for at least every junction/sign plus scenic photos.
This roughly six mile hike from the parking lot at Limantour Beach in Point Reyes California is an absolute delight. You will invariably see seals playing in Drakes Estrero at the end of the spit - when we went in 2009 they were mostly pups. This time they were all in the water and more grown up, leerily peeping their heads out of the water to check out those strange upright humans....
