Twelve of us hiked this roughly 6 mile trail to the Romero Pools. As the pictures show, the water was flowing nicely - which isn't the usual case here in the Sonoran Desert.
Went on a hike with some friend. Very easy hike. Water was flowing so there were some tricky river crossings but very little elevation change. Great hike. Bring lots of water during the summer.
The Tanque Verde Ridge trailhead is located at the Javelina picnic area in the Saguaro National Park - East. I arrived at the trailhead around 10 am and started the 6.9 mile hike to the Juniper Basin campground. After a few 100 yards, there's a book for you to write the date, your name, the number of your party and when you departed.
The first half of the hike offers great views...
On my way back from Colorado, I did this short hike to the Delicate Arch in Arches National Park, near Moab, Utah. Since dogs were not allowed on trails in the park, I left my weimeraner Jade in the car. I flew up to the top to snap a few pictures and returned to the parking lot just before sunset.
My sister and I did this quick hike in late December 2007 with our rented snowshoes. There are several businesses in downtown Estes Park that will rent the snowshoeing equipment. I rented from a place called Outdoor World that offered snowshoes, poles, and gaiters for $8/day.
The trails were hard packed and very easy to walk on. My only complaint was the large crowd of people that were on the trail.
This trail heads up the Finger Rock Canyon and intersects the Pima Canyon Trail at Mount Kimball. Starting at an elevation of 3000 ft, this is a tough hike with a gain in elevation greater than 4000 ft in approximately four miles. However, the trail is well worth the effort with great views of the Finger Rock Canyon and the city of Tucson. At an elevation of 7255 ft, Mount Kimball offers...
This is a hike starting at the Sabino Canyon Visitor Center. Most of the trail is on the east side of the canyon. The trail was well maintained. It only became somewhat overgrown after the northern most waypoint. Expect lots of crowds near the trailhead on weekends. Further along the trail, I passed other hikers approximately every 30 minutes. Although there was 2000 feet gain in elevation, most of this gain was...
