A side trip during our recent stay in Tibet. Went with hospital and emergency medicine colleagues to participate in an international seminar on EM and Disaster medicine. Spent almost an entire week in Tibet.
A climb to Shipton's Arch- only recently discovered by National Geographic and the world's largest natural arch.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shipton%27s_Arch
Segment of Gobi March 09- doing medical sweep on this tricky segment.
Just a quick overnight trip to get off the grid and get some miles on my boots. Since it was such a short hike, I decided to lug in all my camera gear hoping for a good shot of a loon, deer, or even bear. Managed to snap a few shots of some loons in the dusk, but likely poor PQ with such high ISO required.

Section B of the Northville Placid Trail through the central Adirondack mountains over 4 days of cold, wet weather.
Joe Westerhof and I climbed this back in 1995. Yushan is reported to be the highest peak east of the Himalayas.
The annual Good Friday trip with the guys. This event was marked by the fact that we missed an important turn off on the way in and subsequently snowshoed in 4 feet of fresh powder an extra several miles... and ending up at Middle Settlement instead of Middle Branch as planned.
On the way in I (Jeremy) managed to fall through an ice cornice into a waist-high stream about a mile from...

A snowshoe trip up Phelps Mountain over 2 days. This is the trip where we got harassed by a pine martin at the leanto.
Annual Trip into Middle Settlement Lake with the usual characters.
Jonathan and I took 5 days of attitude adjustment, Arizona desert style, covering about 40+ miles in 5 days with no signs of life other than the occasional bird, coatimundi (bet you've never seen one of these), and a porcupine. No rattlesnakes or scorpions, or other people, graced our presence.
Emily & I took an enjoyable hike up this easy ADK mountain.
Mark & I ran up these two bad boys in 55 minutes. They are an easy climb and make for great summer views of the High Peak Region and Lake Placid. I sprained my ankle coming down.
Jonathan, Mark, and I decided to knock off a whole handful of the ADK 46 in one fell swoop with an overnight trek through the Dix Range.
A yearly tradition of weekend camping at Middle Branch Lake on Good Friday.
Five day trek with Jonathan through Dark Canyon via the Sundance Trail. This was one of my all-time favorite life experiences (besides my wedding day). Highly recommended.
Mark and I heard good reports on how accessible the ADK high peaks were this time of the year and set off to attempt Santanoni. We quickly discovered that there was still up to 3 feet of snow in many areas and was inaccessible by foot without snowshoes (which we opted to go without). We camped at Bradley Pond and called the whole thing off.
A nice day for a short trail exploration with m wife.
Santanoni Range: Santanoni, Couchsachraga, Panther Mountains

ADK, New York, United States

This is where gear goes to die. One of the most humbling set of mountains I've done, the Santanoni Range takes names and kicks #@$.
Mark and I set out to do the entire range over 2 days, using the lean-to as an AM start. This idea went belly-up right around the time we finally found the peak of Couchaschraga. This peak is WAY further out than you'd...
