The Redbud trail runs from the Pavillion to the Elm Fork of the Trinity River and then proceeds upstream toward the dam. It is a loop trail that passes through the lowlands. This is a trail update to the Bittern Marsh Trail. Since LLELA has many lowland areas that can be under water, an alternate trail has been developed.This trail shows those updated trails. Just load both into "my maps" and you will have both available.
This exciting trail winds through a mature bottomland hardwood forest with examples of large American Elms, Pecans, Green Ashes, Bur Oaks, and Shumard Oaks. The trail begins in the bottomland forest, and then loops through both wetlands and ponds, and finally takes you along the Elm Fork if the Trinity River.
