Five guys hiked the Maluan Mountain. We started at the Dongbei village. The first part of the trail is through dirt road (accessible by bike). The road then became paved. We went around the Honghualing Reservoir. We then continued to the Maluan water fall. It is rather big because of the recent heavy rain. We had packed lunch close to the Maluan water fall. The trip starts in Meiling reservoir and goes up the mountain ridge. This is the grand loop for the Shabarum regional park in Rowland Heights. One can also do the wildcat look which is much shorter at about 2 miles. The first and the last part of the wildcat look is the same as this loop. However, the grand loop goes up the mountain for an intense workout. The reward is the view of the valley.
