This is an out and back hike of 11+ miles with a nice side trip to the El Capitan cliff area if you've still haven't had enough (14 miles with the side trip). There are some nice views and some interesting points along the trail including an old mine shaft and what looks like either an old military or fire vehicle.
Kids had school and I had the day off. Great way to spend it. Temperature was warm for January with a high near 78F and the view was amazing at the top. You could see to the mexico border and beyond, downtown san diego, east to the cleveland national forest and north to the San Gabriel's....amazing views for such a short hike.

Weekend warrioring on the Pacific Crest Trail. We will be hiking 20-30 miles sections northward towards Malibu since it is close to our San Diego home base. This was the perfect place to start. Over the course of two days we only saw one other hiker. Temps were in the high 70's and sunny.
And back later that day to look for my sunglasses

This was day hike one Sunday with a friend. This would be an easy hike in good weather, but temperatures in the mid-30's and high winds made it more of a challenge on this day.
