Trail starts out nice but gets way too overgrown after about 2 miles your bushwacking
This is a very interpetive hike. I am not sharing my actual GPS data because this area is very lightly traveled. I also could not find a complete map of this hike online so if your adventurous and would like to try and find the old gold mines located at the top of Granite Mountain the I do encourage you to go. Sorry for incomplete GPS track. phone died half way back.This is a very difficult hike. Lots of boulder hopping and clibing. Definatly worth the hike though.
Nice hike but very crowded on weekend. Recent rain had the stream flowing nicely.

We did the entire trail over 2 weekends. the western part from Irvine then the eastern part from up off of Ortega Hwy.We did the western on a Saturday. Very busy here. Nice hike. The road going back to the trail head is closed due to a bridge that is out. However, this section of dirt roadmade a nice hike along a niceley flowing stream. Many spots to walk down to water and explore....
