Nice, easy walk in the woods with some lightly marked areas and muddy or wet areas. The trails and many of the wooden bridges over small streams were knocked out in the heavy rain back in August. This hike documents the battle of Glorieta Pass during the early years of the civil war. Confederate troops(mostly Texans) were heading up the Santa Fe Trail to capture Union forts and met a force of Union troops augmented by New Mexican and Colorado troops in this three day battle.
Nice trek with 7 inches of fresh snow.

Nice and warm fall day with the leaves just a little bit past prime color. Nice, flat trail with some small bridges over wet areas or creeks. Great views of the Potomac and some marshes along the way with plenty of blazes and directional signs. Good times...
Very nice trip only 15 miles from Alexandria. Got there around 10am but it was already getting pretty hot. Most of the trip was well shaded but dew points were up so the ups and down as we got closer to the Potomac get the family a little sweaty.
