Finished lunch in the 12th at a wonderful bistrot. Decided to explore a bit and try this walk. Think it was featured in that Julie Delpy movie.

Walk in Kouvola

Kouvola, Finland
Walking | 2.1 miles
In Finland for work. To help recover form jetlag took a short walk in the morning to get some fresh air before starting to work. Kouvola is a small city about 100 km from Helsinki. I found a trail of red dots that I followed for an interesting path. I didn't get as much exploring in as I wanted - the weather turned wet and windy .

My meetings ended early so before eating lunch I took a short walk the Metro stop Boissiere to Place Victor Hugo (to find a brasserie for lunch) and then on to the Arc de Triomphe. A nice way to spend an hour.

Early Spring in Portland Japanese Garden
by was on Apr 03, 2011

Walking | 0.4 miles
Early Spring in the Japanese Garden is filled with promise as the camellias and trees start to bloom. This year, because of cold weather, blossoms are a few weeks later than normal. But the garden still holds a special charm, even on a cold gray day in early April.

Manhattan evening walk home from dinner

Walking | 2.4 miles
Got into town and, not having made specific plans, took the subway down to Union Square to hunt for a restaurant. Stumbled on a very nice "local place." Unpretentious. Attentive Service. Well prepared food with quality ingredients. Family Atmosphere. The people at the table next to me, he a retired composer and she a painter, have been living in Manhattan since the 70's and eat at this place at least once a week. We...

Fall Season Walk Japanese Garden of Portland
by was on Nov 04, 2009
Kings Heights, Oregon, United States
Walking | 0.4 miles
Fall walk through the Portland Japanese Garden.First clear day following several days of rain. Almost too late this year to see the garden in one of its most beautiful seasons. The light was stunning; a light mist was burning off as we began our walk, giving the atmosphere a glowing radiance. The Garden is one of the finest examples of its kind outside of Japan. A source of civic pride in Portland, it...

Le Mont-Saint-Michel, Basse-Normandie, France
Walking | 3.1 miles
One of the most beautiful spots in France, le Mt St Michel is a marvel of engineering, architecture, and of history. The first construction dates over 1000 years ago, and upon that there are layers and layers of building, though in spots We arrived after a very nice lunch of lamb (which, because they graze on the salty marshes, have a unique taste) in the nearby town. We had to park some way...

Short evening Walk in Cancale

Walking | 2.1 miles
Fairly long drive in the morning, we got to our Gite about 30 minutes early. After a short "souper" we took a walk down to the Port. Being this far west and still on Continental time, the sun sets around 10pm, giving plenty of time for warm evening strolls.

Walk around the Oregon State Capitol
by was on Apr 03, 2009
Salem, Oregon, United States
Walking | 0.9 miles
A beautiful spring day in Salem. I was down to support a friend testifying at the Ways and Means Committee. Here is the track of the slow walk I took in the afternoon before heading over the Cascades to Sisters. The Oregon State Capitol was constructed during the Great Depression in part by the WPA. It has an art deco design and is mostly in marble.
