A 2-day trip to Anza-Borrego's Little Blair Valley area. On Saturday Adam made a quick hike to a nearby Ghost Mountain and later we all were stargazing and car-camped, on Sunday we hiked  5 mi, with 1,540 ft elevation gain to Whale Peak (5,349 ft) from the north. We also visited famed Pinion Canyon "squeeze" and a "drop off" - challenging places for extreme 4-wheelers. Temperatures were in the high 70s F...

Our two groups hiked Cuyamaca Peak (6512 ft.): one from Paso Picacho campground (7.4 mi, elevation gain 2045 ft.), the other from Cold Stream trailhead (9.9 mi, elevation gain 2250 ft.) on a sunny day with temperatures in the 60s F. This area was devastated by 2003 Cedar fire and is struggling to recover. At certain altitudes, aggressively growing dense shrub prevents native trees from re-growing. See pics.

This was a 7.8 mi with elevation gain 1200 ft hike toward Pinto Canyon which we never reached. Explored various beautiful palm groves, some of them showing signs of past Indian habitation. Temperature was in the 70s F.  See pics.
