Climbed Ruth Mountain
The trip started on the Pacific Northwest Trail off of Chuckanut Drive. The first mile climbs through a series of switchbacks gaining in elevation. On a clear day several places to stop for a peek a view of the San Juan Islands. Unfortunately our day was not so clear. About 1 and 1/2 mile you will come to a trail junction, the shortest way to Oyster Dome is to the left, if...
Start out at Lime Kiln Trail head, south east of Granite Falls, Washington. Trail goes briefly through the forest to a mostly level road, before gently declining through the forest to follow the South Fork of the Stillaguamish river. At one point you pass by Hubbard Lake and cross a bridge over Hubbard Creek. Continue on the trail with peek-a boo views of the river. Keep your eye out for relics left...
This is a very popular hike on the mountain loop highway outside of Granite Falls Wa. Decided to try it out and found a gem of a lake. This area was very photogenic with various terrain and landscapes to view. The hike takes you up to Goat Lake which guides you along a trail that follows elliot creek. The mountain peak in many of the pictures is Cadet Peak. The trails ends at...
Hiked the Johnson ridge trail out of Skykomish. This is a great trip. It was the first time up into this area. There are many places to explore and it will not be the last trip into this area. The trail steadily climbs from the parking area and eventully plateaus out. It then climbs again until reaching Sunrise Mountain. These Mountains are really rounded off peaks with large fairly level areas. After...
This hike started at the winter route (Marble Mount snow park) in June. Very late melt off. Accompanied by friends and family we started off at 4:30 am, with headlamps through the lower forest at the base of St Helens. The trail climbs gradually until just above the Chocolate Falls area. It then begins a steep ascent up the mountain, which basically follows a route straight up the mountain. The trail is...
This was an interesting hike that was spur of the moment for the last day in Yellowstone. Lots of snow melt off created a lot of mud in the low area's through out the park including this area. We started off through the valley trying to stay as dry as possible. Hike climbs up a hillside and moves through and area that was burned out and is now regrowing. It has bears...
Hiked Hell Roaring creek trail down to the suspension bridge which crosses the Yellowstone River. This hike was great at the start because it's all down hill. Coming back is the tough part. The bridge is well worth seeing. Its amazing!
Hiked up to Bunsen Pk in Yellowstone Park. The first of 3 hikes. This hike starts out at a high elevation compared to what we are normally used to in Washington State. The elevation is on the track with all the details of total gain and trip speed. There was still some snow in places but overall the trip was great.
First real hike out this spring and I picked the one that would clear the cob webs and make me realize how out of shape I am from the winter / spring weather chaos of the Pacific Northwest. Anyway, A great hike for the most part and the best part was being able to hike with 2 great and inspirational hikers that I will forever look up to. Thanks Clyde and Don...
An attempt to summit Eaglet in the winter.
Simple fall hike up Mt.Dickerman. Started out at 8:00 am and was back to the car at 3:30 pm. The day turned out perfect with the weather starting out cloudy. As we climbed the clouds lifted and we were blessed with magnificant views as far west as the Olympic Mountain range and the strait of Jaun de Fuca.North as far as Mt. Baker, south to Mt. Rainer and east to the far...
Chancey hike up to Mt.Forgotten. The weather did not want to cooperate and didn't seem that it would be possiable to make an attempt on the mountain that we had heard so much about from others. But, we took a chance, and it payed off. We elected to start out at the former road to the original trail head instead of using the new trail head which is about a mile farther up...
Another anual trip up to Mt.Pichuck with the girls. We put a twist into this year and decided to see the sunrise. Started out at the trail head at 3:30 am and make it to the lookout in a little under 2hr. The sunrise was something to behold! What a beautiful site. The colors and shadows that is cast on to the surounding landscape is amazing. Watching the Cascade Mountain range lit up with the early morning...
Hiked up to the summit on Saturday Aug. 21,2010. This hike is very challenging. It has a long approach and a big surprise toward the summit. Most of the hiking books label this as a class 2/3 scramble. It definitely has this. What was not mentioned, is that the scramble takes a while to accomplish. For our group going up it took over 45 minutes to complete this portion of the trail. While we were at...
Just a fun trip to Bridle Veil Falls and Lake Serene with friends and family.
Climbing the 12,276-foot summit of Mt. Adams using the 6,700 elevation gain South Climb Trail #183 late July. This straight-forward snow climb leaves Cold Springs Campground at 5,600', Lots of cars at this location, be ready to have to walk a little bit to the trail head. Encountered snow at the 6100ft level. Traversed up the ridge to the left of Crescent Glacier. This was probably the most hazardous section to the...
Just a simple hike out to the ghost town of Monte Cristo.
The trip started as all do at the Lone Fir Resort the night prior to hiking to pick up the permits for 14 climbers, most of whom were in for a hike we wouldn't soon forget. The weather forecast was questionable, we decided to go ahead and attempt an early morning start of 4:30 am on the 25th starting at the climbers bivouc. This turned into 5:30am. It was still a good...
Just a perfect day to hit the trail and climb in the snow.
