Hiking Trails and Trips
Trips
I parked in the parking lot in Catalina State Park and took the Romero Trail to Romero Pools, stopping at Montrose Pools on the way. The water was running pretty well from the snow melt in the Catalinas. There were lots of wildflowers in bloom everywhere. On the return trip I took the Canyon Loop Trail back to the parking lot.
Parked at the Verde Valley School Rd trailhead and took Baldwin Trail to Red Rock Crossing. From there we headed back on Baldwin to Templeton and took it up to intersection with Cathedral Rock Trail. We took that to the first saddle and then back down to the trailhead at Back O Beyond Rd where we got picked up.
Day hike in Arivaipa Canyon. We hiked as far as Javelina Canyon and then turned around.
Parked at Douglas Spring TH at the end of Speedway. Took Douglas Spring Trail to the junction for Bridal Wreath Falls. On the return way we took a different route back including Three Tanks trail and Garwood trail.
We parked in the lot at Sanctuary Cove and took the trail that goes towards Sombrero Peak. Once we reached the top of the ridge we cut down the other side on an old trail until we got to the horse trail that runs along the base of Panther. We took that west until we got to the side trail that takes you to the top of Panther Peak. The trails gets pretty...

Dropped off where FR-231 crosses over Oak Creek. There were several sections that were chest deep or more. This hike is very challenging because there is no trail for all but the last 2 miles. Lots of boulder hopping over wet rocks and swimming through narrow sections of the canyon.
We parked at the Sabino Canyon Visitor's Center and took Sabino Canyon Rd for the first 4 miles to the beginning of the trail. We followed this trail 2.5 miles to Sabino Basin and took the West Fork Trail 1.5 miles until we got to the turn-off for Hutch's Pool. The water was over our heads in some places and there are some rocks you can jump off into the water. On...

I parked at the Sanctuary Cove parking lot off Scenic Dr and started up the trail to Sombrero (Safford) Peak via the NE route which has some sections with exposure near the top. From there I started down the SW side of the peak following the other trail until I veered off towards the West to make my connection over to Panther Peak. There is no trail along this section so I...
The trail begins at the same trailhead as Finger Rock Canyon Trail. Shortly (within 50 yards) you'll come to a junction and you'll take the right trail up to Pontotac. At one time the Pontatoc Ridge Trail was called the Old Spanish Mine Trail. There are some old abandoned mines at the end of the trail. The Pontatoc Ridge Trail branches off the Pontatoc Trail about 0.8 miles from the trailhead. You'll...
We started from the parking lot at the West end off Arivaipa Rd. The first quarter mile or so is an unremarkable trail put in by the Nature Convervancy which owns the land there until you get to the BLM land about a mile upstream from the trailhead. Because it is wilderness area there are no trails but there are many social paths that wind in and out of the creek which...
Our hike began from the parking lot of the trailhead, just off AZ-273. The trail starts out from the parking lot and climbs gradually until you are walking through a meadow. The first mile or so meanders through this meadow following the East Fork of the Little Colorado River until you reach the timber. From here the trail becomes steeper, and you gain 800 ft in elevation in about 1/2 mile. The trail...
